Paul W. Hottel, O.D.
Iowa City and Williamsburg Offices
Dr. Paul Hottel is an Iowa City native and a 3rd generation optometrist. His great-uncle James started the practice in downtown Iowa City in 1937 and was joined by father Philip in 1948. Paul joined the practice in 1982 following graduation from Southern California College of Optometry. He is a past Education Chairman for the Hawkeye Institute, a continuing education conference for optometrists in Iowa and surrounding states. He enjoys golf, softball, bowling, Hawkeye athletics, and family activities with wife and 2 adult children. His daughter is currently attending Optometry School continuing the family tradition.
Dennis J. Schlader, O.D.
Iowa City and Kalona Offices
Dr. Schlader grew up in Charles City, Iowa. He attended Loras College and received a Bachelor of Science degree. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1987. He initially practiced with Wolfe Eye Clinic in Marshalltown until he joined Eye Associates in 1989. Dr. Schlader has been actively involved in the Iowa Optometric Association, serving as Education Chairman for the Hawkeye Institute, National Board of Examiners, as well as the Executive IOA Board from 1996-1999. He enjoys running, golf, and family activities with his wife and two children.
Sheri L. Roggy, O.D.
Iowa City and West Liberty Offices
Dr. Roggy was raised in Epworth, Iowa, a small town west of Dubuque. She attended Northwest Missouri State University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology. She then attended the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Optometry where she graduated Valedictorian of her class. After graduation she joined Eye Associates where she currently practices full scope primary eyecare with special interest in pediatrics and ocular disease. Dr. Roggy is a guest lecturer at the University Of Iowa School Of Education where she holds workshops for education students and current teachers about vision and vision-related learning problems at the Teacher Leader Center as well as local schools. Dr. Roggy is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Iowa Optometric Association where she is an active member on several committees. She enjoys serving the people in her community by volunteering regularly at St. Patrick's Church, Regina Elementary, Preucil School of Music, the Ronald McDonald House and other local organizations. Dr. Roggy enjoys the outdoors, cycling, cross-fit, music, and spending time with her husband and four children.
Jayme N. Wilhelm, O.D.
Iowa City, Coralville and Kalona Office
Dr. Wilhelm, grew up in Dyersville, Iowa. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology Research from Loras College in 2003 and his Doctorate of Optometry from Indiana University School of Optometry in 2007. He is a member of Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Society and a member of the Iowa Optometric Association, where he is co-chair of the Continuing Education Commitee. When not in the office, Jayme enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children, competing in triathlons, and bow hunting.
Nicholas J. Olberding, O.D.
Iowa City, Coralville and Williamsburg Offices
Dr. Olberding is a native of Dyersville, Iowa. He completed his undergraduate studies at Loras College and professional training at the Illinois College of Optometry where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. After graduation, he completed a one-year residency at the St. Louis V.A. Medical Center with an emphasis in Primary Care and Geriatrics. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, American Academy of Optometry, and the Iowa Optometric Association. His interests include medical eye care, contact lenses, and emergency eye care. In his spare time, Dr. Olberding enjoys a passion for running, cycling, hiking, archery, and spending time with his family. He is grateful for the educators, mentors, and colleagues who have demonstrated to him the great privilege and importance of improving each patient's quality of life.
Kara Heying, OD, FCOVD (By Referral Only)

After graduating from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1998, Dr. Kara Heying joined her father's practice and pioneered optometric vision therapy in the Cedar Rapids area. She passed rigorous exams and is a certified Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. Dr. Kara Heying has served on the COVD Board of Directors and is the current President of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. She lectures on developmental optometry and vision therapy across the nation and in foreign countries. She enjoys keeping current with the research in developmental optometry, working with pediatric patients, and leading her team of vision therapists at the Children's Eye Center in Cedar Rapids and at Eye Associates of Iowa City. Outside of the lecture circuit, she plays tennis, volunteers, and cheers on her three daughters at show choir performances, basketball games, dance competitions and their other school and church activities.
